Both St Andrew’s Music School and Cambridge Schola are funded entirely by donation. If you feel you might be able to support either of these organisations, please read on.
At SAMS, we believe that money should not be a barrier between children and music. That’s why we work hard to ensure that all the opportunities we provide for our young people are completely free of charge to parents. Between our Outreach work and our clubs, we are now teaching music to well over 100 children every week. In an area which previously had almost no music education or exposure to live music, this is a number we are incredibly proud of.
SAMS is funded entirely by donations, and we are grateful for every contribution, however great or small. As SAMS continues to grow, we are taking on more staff and resources, but this comes with additional costs; as of January 2026, it costs us £500 a week to run all our activities, lessons and outreach classes.
Cambridge Schola is the first Cambridge University-wide choir with real ambition and potential. Our ambition is simple: we aim to build a choir with international prestige, selecting the finest singers from across Cambridge University, and instilling in them a professional ethos of unstinting excellence, so that we can truly represent the very best of Cambridge's extraordinary choral tradition.
However, this challenge requires resources. Schola Cantorum needs around £80,000 a year to keep running its current programme of activities, but receives no funding from the University or Colleges. Our benefactors provide the means for our students to rehearse and perform, as well as for sheet music, robes, singing lessons and other opportunities.
